WINNERS OF THE TEKLA BIM AWARDS 2019

Project name: One Nine Elms
Project category: Commercial
Company: Solve Structural Design
Project location: United Kingdom

Solve Structural Design Ltd are this year's winners of the Tekla UK BIM awards (commercial category) with the One Nine Elms project in London.

Working very closely with the contractor, we were able to implement the use of the 3D rebar models very early on in the project, for checking, detail development and rebar fixing to supplement the final 2D drawings.

Collaboration was improved dramatically using Trimble Connect for viewing and commenting on the models, which proved much faster and efficient than than the usual emails backwards and forwards with marked up screenshots.

Skype sessions/meetings were also held with the 3D rebar model being the central focal point, also allowing detail development to occur much earlier than usual to ensure buildability of final drawings and bending schedules.

We are delighted that over 10 years of work we have put into 3D rebar detailing and BIM modelling has been recognised and look forward to what the future of Digital Engineering in construction will bring.
